Fundraising
Fundraising is critical to the ongoing functioning capability of the Ashburton section. Without funding from the public we would simply cease to operate. A significant amount of members and trainees time is based at fundraising events. These events are broad. They might be a talk to a local group, manning a stall at a villiage fete, marshalling at an organised event or simply shaking a can in the street.
Very few people know about the work that the DRG performs. Even fewer people know that we are a registered charity and do not get any income from the government. It's always very interesting when speaking to people in the street about our work. What do you think would happen if yourself or someone you cared for went missing? Who would you really on to come and find you? Well if you are inland and not covered by the coast guard, you would be predominantly relying on DRG in Devon. The police do not perform basic search and rescue. Therefore when you next see a DRG person or vehical think of the task they may be performing, it won't necessarily be associated with the moors.
If you would like DRG to visit your organisation or would like to donate money, mountain or medical equipment then please contact our fundraising officer, Keith Lambeth. Keith can be contacted on:- email: keith.lambeth@devon.gov.uk .Also you can register for gift aid by printing and filling in the gift aid certificatehereand provide it to us with you donation.
Many thanks for reading this information, and if you are a donor please accept our warm thanks. Our largest contributors will be put onto the website (should they wish) to promote their own organisations.
In an emergency do not contact us through this website. Call 999.
