On Saturday evening, 9th May, Ashburton Conservative Club held a fundraising Horse Racing event for its members and guests. Organised by Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Fundraising officer, Paul Knowles, members bet on video footage of old horse races. Through their support £462 was raised. In addition, to holding the event the Conservative Club paid £120 for the hire of the equipment and a projectionist.

Mike Posner, Treasurer of the Conservative Club, said: 'Apart from the fact that it is a group based in Ashburton, it is an essential service to the whole community, which not just us but, hopefully, everyone will support.'

Chairman of the Dartmoor team, Martyn Evans, said: 'We are very grateful to Richard Berry, Chairman of the Conservative Club, and members of the club for the holding the fundraising event. The money is much needed to help with our day-to-day running costs and it was with great pleasure that I presented Richard with a certificate of thanks.'

Paul Knowles, fundraising officer for the team, said: 'I'd like to thank the members of the club for holding the event and all the members who supported us.'
